My experiments with Nokia Lumia 720

Hi Guys,
I am a lazy writer so please don't expect much details from here.
I am not going to repeat what is written everywhere.
If you want spec details, http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_lumia_720-5321.php
If you want hardware review and little overview, http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_lumia_720-review-919.php

So, what will be here?
Things which may not be there or something that you might want to know :)

First of all, I have a white L720 which is really beautiful piece of hardware with glossy back (other varients are in matt).

About Memory & Apps

Internal memory is 8GB (actual 7.2GB) but free space will be around 4-5GB only.
- 2GB is OS and other will be temp file which will be filled up by unknown factor slowly.

Windows Phone Store shows some size of application (like 10MB) for downloading, but be aware that, when it is installed, its size will be anything from downloaded size to 4x downloaded size.

Apps can NOT be installed in SD Card. IT can be installed from SD card but it will go in internal memory.

Offline maps will go into internal storage only.

You cannot have pirated apps. Store is secure. (at the time of writing, there is no proper breaking/rooting of WP8).

Battery Life
Phone has 2000mAh battery. Keeping the number aside and coming to real life...

I have a 2G connection (3G will have better battery life). I have configured phone for

  1. 1 Yahoo mail syncing at every 2hrs
  2. 2 Gmails syncing in Push fashion (as and when arrive)
  3. 1 Outlook mail syncing once a day
  4. 1 Nokia account
  5. 1 Facebook account
  6. Data is always on and I dont turn it off ever.
  7. WhatsApp is installed and running.
  8. I make/receive calls for around 1.5hrs a day.
  9. Wake the phone up to see time around 30-50 times a day.
  10. Music for 1.5hrs a day.
  11. Use net for around 2hrs a day. (including using twitter/Facebook apps)
  12. Uselessly play with phone for around 1-2hrs a day (you know you do that with new phone).
My phone's battery lasts generally for 30hrs.

- Using data is something that eats up battery like hell. Generally 10-15% an hour.
- Making Calls uses battery less. Generally 5% an hour.

At times, when I don't use phone much, it lasts for 50+ hours (keeping all the backgound tasks on and above 1-8 points still alive).

Currently my L720's battery is at 63% and it has been 28hrs since I unplugged from fully charged.
In the mean time, I used it for 1.5hrs of calling and 30min of net, and above 1-8 on.

Ok, my lazyness has started showing up now, so I stop here.
Will update more when I am out of my lazyness.

BUT, if you have any doubt before buying it, you can ask. I will try to reply without lazyness :)
